Policies & Community Guidelines

At BAW Dance, we believe dance and movement should feel empowering, supportive and accessible. These guidelines exist to help maintain a respectful, safe and uplifting environment for all members of our community.

1. Inclusivity, Respect & Community Behaviour

BAW Dance is committed to creating a respectful, supportive and empowering environment for all participants. We aim to cultivate a community rooted in creativity, self-expression, inclusivity and mutual care.

Discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation or inappropriate behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated within classes, workshops, events, online spaces or community chats. This includes but is not limited to behaviour relating to race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, sexuality, religion, disability, body type, age or personal background.

Anyone found to be acting in a way that compromises the safety or wellbeing of others may be removed from classes, workshops, events or community spaces at the discretion of BAW Dance. In serious cases, future participation may be refused without refund.

We encourage all students to contribute to maintaining a welcoming and respectful atmosphere for everyone attending.

2. Safety, Comfort & Confidentiality

We understand that dance and movement spaces can feel vulnerable or emotionally personal for some participants. BAW Dance aims to create an environment where students feel safe, supported and respected throughout their experience.

If anything during a class, event or interaction makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable or disrespected, please contact us directly. Concerns will always be handled with sensitivity, care and confidentiality wherever possible.

3. Participation & Physical Wellbeing

By attending BAW Dance classes, workshops, rehearsals, performances or events, participants acknowledge that all dance and movement activities involve physical activity and personal participation at their own comfort, ability and responsibility level.

Students are encouraged to listen to their bodies, work within their own physical limits and inform instructors of any injuries, medical conditions, accessibility needs or concerns that may affect participation.

While instructors aim to provide supportive guidance, modifications and a safe learning environment, BAW Dance cannot accept responsibility for injuries, accidents, loss or damage sustained during participation except where required by law.

4. Photography & Media

Photography and video content may occasionally be captured during classes, performances and events for promotional, archival and community purposes.

We always aim to do this respectfully and participants may contact us privately if they do not wish to appear in content wherever reasonably possible. During classes and smaller activities, we aim to seek verbal consent before capturing content wherever reasonably practicable.

Students and guests are also expected to respect the privacy and consent of others when taking photos or videos during BAW Dance activities.

5. Tardiness & Late Entry

To maintain a safe and focused environment for all participants, late entry may not be permitted if a student arrives more than 10–15 minutes after the scheduled class start time or has missed the warm-up section.

Warm-ups are an important part of injury prevention and class preparation. We kindly encourage students to arrive on time wherever possible out of respect for their bodies, instructors and fellow dancers.

6. Refunds, Cancellations & Class Credits

All class, course, workshop and event bookings are generally non-refundable unless otherwise stated.

Students may cancel individual class bookings up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time to receive either:

  • a full refund, or

  • class credit for a future session, subject to availability and discretion.

Same-day cancellations and no-shows are not eligible for refunds, transfers or class credits.

If BAW Dance cancels a class or event, participants will be offered either a full refund or alternative class credit.

7. Right to Refuse Participation

BAW Dance reserves the right to refuse participation, remove attendees or deny future access to classes, workshops, events or community spaces where behaviour is deemed unsafe, disruptive, discriminatory or in breach of these policies.

8. Agreement to Policies

By booking or attending a BAW Dance class, workshop, rehearsal, performance or event, participants confirm that they have read, understood and agreed to these Policies & Community Guidelines
